Editorial standards & methodology
BestStocks publishes explanatory market coverage — what changed for a stock, and why. Because this is financial information, we are explicit about how it is produced, what is automated, what is reviewed, and how we correct mistakes.
Who produces this coverage
Event coverage is produced by the BestStocks Market Desk— the editorial function responsible for our detection system, catalyst research, and the standards on this page. The organization is the named author of automated event pages, in line with Google's guidance that an organization may be the author of article content when it stands behind the methodology below.
Data providers
Prices, volume, and fundamentals come from Financial Modeling Prep. SEC filings come directly from EDGAR. News and catalyst research draw on established financial sources (Reuters, Bloomberg, CNBC, WSJ, Barron's, Yahoo Finance, Investing.com and comparable outlets), retrieved via Tavily and Google search (AI Overview and organic results, via DataForSEO) and filtered for source trust, entity relevance, and recency. Figures reflect the trading session as first analyzed and may be revised by the provider.
How automated detection is used
A significance gate first identifies meaningful moves (see How it works). For qualifying sessions, an automated pipeline researches the catalyst across the sources above and a language model synthesizes a cited summary. Every cited source is classified for trust before it can be used, and the model may only cite from that vetted list — it is not permitted to invent a catalyst, figure, or source.
What is reviewed, and finalized pages
Intraday detections are provisional. A dated event page is finalized after the close using the confirmed session move and additional catalyst research; that finalized conclusion is what the live ticker page then defers to. Finalized analyses distinguish the genuinely new catalyst on the day from earlier developments a source merely references as background. Editors review and correct individual pages where warranted.
Corrections policy
When a finalized page is substantively corrected, we update it in place and move its modification date forward; routine data refreshes do not. To report an error, email the address on our contact page with the ticker, date, and the specific claim.
